Assessment of the Safety and Tolerability of Xeoderm Powder in Patients with Chronic Diarrhea

The research presents a study aimed at evaluating the safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of Xeoderm powder, a specific zeolite product, in improving health-related quality of life, bowel habits, and psychological status in patients suffering from inadequately treated chronic or recurrent diarrhea. The study involved 100 patients who were instructed to take Xeoderm (15 mg) twice daily for eight weeks, followed by a reduced dosage of one spoon in the evening for an additional month. 

Patients were required to document their stool frequency, bowel sounds, and any symptoms related to hemorrhoids, anal fissures, or anitis. Various assessments were conducted before and after the treatment, including tests for H. pylori, a Subject's Global Assessment (SGA) of Relief questionnaire, the Bristol Stool Form Scale (BSFS), and the 12-item Short Form Survey (SF-12) to evaluate quality of life.

Results indicated that Xeoderm was effective in controlling stool frequency and improving stool quality, leading to enhanced daily living for patients. Notably, those with irritable bowel disease experienced significant reductions in diarrhea, discomfort, and increased social confidence. The study also observed changes in blood and fecal parameters during and after treatment. 

The discussion highlighted anecdotal evidence supporting the safety and effectiveness of Xeoderm, suggesting that it may work by modulating immune responses and reducing inflammation in the colonic mucosa. The authors concluded that Xeoderm should be considered for symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea, particularly when traditional anti-diarrheal protocols have failed.
