Zeolites refer to a group of minerals that are basically hydrated calcium potassium sodium aluminosilicates in which the water is held in cavities in the lattice. Zeolites are microporous, aluminosilicate minerals commonly used as commercial absorbents and in many household applications. The lattices of the molecule are negatively charged and loosely hold cations such as calcium, sodium, ammonium, and potassium; and also water. In other words, Zeolites acts like magnets which hold liquids and gasses for long periods of time, cooling and drying.  ZeoFill has undergone extensive safety testing including x-ray diffraction, x-ray fluorescence, scanning electron microscope images, ICP mass spectometry, TOC, Rietveld Semi-Quantitative analysis, EN 71-3 and many more.  The ZeoFill has also been tested many times over showing the durability over time after repeated wear cycles.  Liposport, GMax and other testing available upon request.

The zeolites’ ability to exchange one cation for another is known as “cation-exchange capacity” or “CEC”. Cation-exchange capacity is a measure of the number of cations per unit weight available for exchange, usually expressed as milliequivalents per 100 grams of material.  The high purity of ZeoFill has a higher CEC than lower purity zeolites so is more effective at minimizing odors.  The highly porous internal structure of zeolite has been shown to cool sportsfields by as much as 35 degress Fahrenheit as compared to silica sand and/or rubber.  ZeoFill’s Mohs is 4.2 to 5 and ZeoFill offers a 5 or 8 year warranty depending on mesh size and type of application.  ZeoFill has been also been proven to be proposition 65 safe.  We have collected some research under our Applications page for you to learn more about this amazing product!
